Confessions from a Snotty Shopper

I will go out of my way to do business at a place where customer service is king. I conversely absolutely detest horrible customer service and avoid shopping places where customer service is zilch.

Today, I purchased $65 from Babies R Us and didn’t get the one thing that I went into to buy. The one item I needed to buy wasn’t available in the store to buy. After asking one of their store employees if the item was available and being treated rudely, I decided it would be the last time I purchased anything from their store. After getting into my car, I decided that I wasn’t even going to buy the $65 worth of “stuff” I had in my car and promptly drove to Target, bought everything here for cheaper, and then drove back to Babies R Us and returned all the items (except for a cute pair of socks for Little Sister).

Where will you not shop any longer because of poor customer service? Name names!

  1. Steak and Shake at Rivergate… Ridiculous event about a month ago, and even the GM was a total flake!

  2. So proud of you! I will do the same thing. My least favorite are places that have gimmicks to get you in the door. I hate sale flyers with ??% off your entire purchase with MAJOR exclusions. You shop only to find out nothing you are purchasing qualifies.

Domino’s Pizza is at the top of my list at the moment, very bad customer service!

  3. Absolutely! I can’t stand bad customer service. Target is usually at the TOP of my list but I cannot abandon that place for some reason. Belk is also at the top because they are terrible about running a coupon that applies to pretty much nothing. I think Walmart has pretty good customer service (as far as returning items).

    • Becca,

I’ll have to say that Target is usually on my good list! I’ve never had a bad experience there. I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart and will do almost anything to avoid shopping there. Glad you’ve had good experiences!

  4. I hate walmart – I don’t want to feel like it’s an imposition when I want to spend money. I love that the last few times I’ve been in Target someone has asked if I need help or am looking for anything. I am also a starbuck snob and will not go back to one’s where I feel the service is lacking.
I’m also a service snob and am queen on writing letters. Bath and Body Works was on my list, but they really responded well to an issue I had. So I’m going to try them again I think.
