Your Favorite IT Mediator is now a Family Mediator, Too!

Monday, March 8th, 2010

My mediation practice has been primarily focused in civil mediation, more specifically settling information technology disputes.  Disputes such as large scale IT system implementations which have gone sour between company and vendor(s), telecommunication disputes between small or large businesses and carriers, data center disputes on cloud computing where expectations were not met, and service level disputes not met by vendors and/or not understood by the company purchasing the service.   I’ve also been working with an excellent non-profit organization in Sumner County, Tennessee and found that I also enjoyed mediating the family cases referred by the courts.

After some careful thought, I’ve decided to expand my practice into the Family mediation arena, to include cases such as divorce, elder mediation, and juvenile cases.  I’m not new in this area, I’ve been mediating these cases with Sumner Mediation Services and have attended several training and am Approved by the Tennessee Supreme Court to mediate Family cases, just as I am approved to mediate Civil cases.

My hope is that my expanding my practice, I can be more of a service to my fellow community.

Community Mediation Services

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Community Mediation Centers are a great community resource for both the communities in which they serve and the people who volunteer their time for the organization.  These centers offer low-cost or sometimes a no-cost mediation solution/service.  Community Mediation Centers are typically non-profits where professional or community trained people offer their time to the organization to mediate disputes.

I work with two organizations in Middle Tennessee:  Sumner Mediation Services http://sumnermediation.org/) and Nashville Conflict Resolution Center (http://www.nashvilleconflict.org/).  Sumner Mediation Services operates in Sumner County, TN and offer co-mediation services for court appointed mediation’s.  Nashville Conflict Resolution Center provides mediation for Civil and Criminal services, as well as offers monthly educational opportunities.

In addition to the mediation services to parties seeking resolution, these centers often also offer the community educational opportunities.  These opportunities can come in the shape of lunch in learns or mediation training to train community volunteers to become mediators.

If you are looking for a worthy cause to donate your to time, I’d suggest taking a look at your Community Mediation Center.
